I am a big fan of the Abraham Hicks daily messages and I look forward to receiving one every morning. The week I started as a consultant at Megyn Kelly TODAY I received these powerful words:

“Every time you want something and achieve vibrational harmony with it and allow it to come to you, you not only gain the satisfaction of having accomplished your desire – you gain a whole new perspective from which to desire.”

-Abraham Hicks

I printed the quote (I always print my favorites!) and kept it on my desk at NBC News as a reminder that the reason I was there was because I had visualized the whole thing.

I have been a TODAY fan since the days of Jane Pauley and Bryant Gumbel. I drink my morning coffee from my TODAY mug and love love love the TODAY team. When the Oprah Show ended, I remember visualizing myself working at TODAY. I could see the offices so clearly in my mind – crowded with low lighting and busy people. My people.

But I had three problems. First – I am an Audience Producer and TODAY did not have an audience. Second – I still had children in high school and I live in Chicago. Third – even if TODAY had a studio audience and my kids were out of the house, I could never afford to live in New York City! But I kept drinking my coffee from my TODAY mug and continued to visualize myself in those offices.

When my oldest daughter graduated from college, she landed the coveted NBC Page Program. I was thrilled for her, but honestly part of me was thinking that I finally had my in! Her first assignment was the Green Room Page for TODAY. I began to plan my move! I told her to help me get a job. She didn’t think I was funny.

A year and a half later, I received a call from a producer friend of mine who asked if I would be interested in helping launch a new show on TODAY with a studio audience. And suddenly POOF, my three problems were gone! My youngest child was about to leave for college, TODAY was launching a show with a studio audience hosted by Megyn Kelly and NBC was paying for me to live in New York City!

I said YES immediately and went on to have the best six months of my life. Every morning at 6am I walked through the TODAY Plaza, past Studio 1A, and into 30 Rockefeller Plaza. And every day, no matter how exhausted I was, I smiled within because I knew I had called the work to myself. I was in vibrational harmony with my new role and that felt very satisfying.

“I smiled within because I knew I had called the work to myself. I was in vibrational harmony with my new role and that felt very satisfying.”

Yes, I give credit to my friend who recommended me for the job and I will always be grateful to her, but that job was always mine because I saw it and spoke it before it ever happened. All of Oprah’s lessons – the universe delivers, words hold power, manifest your destiny – all came true for me with just one phone call. Or maybe it was the visuals I manifested.

The TODAY offices looked just like I had visualized. I fit right in with the amazing TODAY team and I got to do what I loved again for another strong female boss. I got lucky twice.

I felt like a kid in a candy story. It was so good to be back in another iconic building and part of a new TV team. The building smelled so good! Just like Harpo Studios. There was a hustle and a buzz that made me feel right at home. And the studios – OH the studios! TODAY in 1A, Megyn in 6A, Fallon in 6B, Seth in 8G, SNL in 8H – 35 years in the business and I was like “I am here!” I sat in the audience of every single show and was just as excited to be in those seats as I was when I sat in The Mike Douglas Show at 14. None of it was lost on me.

I rode elevators with NBC talent and I could barely contain my professional self! I have met countless amounts of celebrities, but standing next to legendary broadcasters who I have watched every day – that is next level excitement.

“Thirty-five years in the business and I was like,  ‘I am here!'”

Now that I have returned to Chicago, I am getting back to my lovespeaks business and preparing for my youngest child to come home from college this week. I had an empty nest for about a month-and-a-half, which I highly recommend! The TV gig was extraordinary, but avoiding my empty nest was genius!

I miss my new TV team and being in the studio with Megyn, her audience and my clipboard. I miss running into my daughter on the job and trying not to embarrass her. I miss laughing hysterically, which is the #1 reason I work. But I’m excited for the possibilities ahead as I begin to visualize what’s next.  I’m coming for you Michelle Obama! There I said it. If you see something, slay something!
